RARE Disney Cruise Deals You Need to Check Out

disney cruise buy 2 get 2 free

You can even redeem this deal on a cruise you’ve already booked as long as it qualifies! There are some blackout dates that apply, and they’re different depending on which ship you are sailing. Concierge-level rooms do not come cheap, but they're the way to go if you want cream-of-the-crop service on a Disney cruise.

Disney+ Subscribers can book up to 2 staterooms with this offer!

I highly recommend bringing a lanyard to keep track of this important card if it's your first Disney voyage. While a movie theater may sound like a strange place to spend a few hours at sea, I recommend making time to go see a new Disney movie while on your next Disney Cruise. The ships show first-run movies, so instead of heading to your local theater to see the next Marvel, Pixar or other Disney film released close to your cruise date, save some money and enjoy the movie at sea for no extra charge. In the example below, you'll see the cheapest inside cabin where you pick a specific room on the ship is $2,072, while the price starts at $1,488 if you let Disney choose which inside room you get. This type of fare comes with additional restrictions, so read the fine print carefully.

Disney Cruise Deals: How to Score the Best Bargain for Your Vacation

If you enjoy fine dining, book a fancy dinner at one of the adults-only restaurants. Depending on which ship you are on, there will be one or two restaurants that are reserved for adults — Palo and perhaps also Remy or Enchante. However, if you see the show first and then eat dinner, the servers are great about expressing your meal with little kids.

It’s curious how the tables have turned when it comes to Walt Disney World v. DCL discounts. Between 2018 and 2020, deals at WDW were abundant and aggressive. Pent-up demand is still running strong for the parks, to the point that resort reservations are difficult even at full price for October through December 2022. Between around 2018 and early 2020, this degree of discounting simply was not occurring.

For a limited time, you can book a seven-day Princess cruise with a partner and bring a second and third guest for free. Here’s what you need to know about how to claim this travel deal. The best time to shop for Disney cruise deals happens at the time you are most likely to be dreaming of summer vacation -- January, February and March (wave season). Other than those three months, watch for Black Friday and Cyber Monday cruise deals.

To start, let’s understand what Disney Cruise Price Adjustment is all about. It is a policy that allows guests to modify their cruise booking if there is a decrease in the cruise fare for their selected sailing. This means that if the price of your cruise goes down after you have made your reservation, you may be eligible for a refund or onboard credit for the difference. It’s a great way to ensure you’re getting the best value for your money. In summary, understanding Disney Cruise price adjustment is crucial for budget-friendly planning. By knowing the different factors that can affect cruise prices and the strategies to secure the best deal, travelers can make informed decisions and maximize their vacation budget.

Speaking of Facebook, the odds are excellent that your individual sailing has a Facebook group with several hundred people in it. If you wish to participate in gift exchanges, get to know your shipmates pre-cruise or tap into a hive mind for advice on picking excursions and packing, it's a big asset to belong to a group specific to your sailing. You can keep things simple or order personalized magnets on a site like Etsy in advance of your sailing. You may see some doors that go all out and even have pouches with goodies in them.

Disney Cruise Discounts for Canadian Residents

If you are considering booking a cruise for your family in the near future, you might want to take advantage of one of Disney Cruise Line’s promotions. You can't go wrong in booking a Disney cruise as there is already so much included and available at your fingertips. But with a little knowledge, you can skip some of the common first-timer mistakes and board like a pro, starting with your first cruise.

NEW Disney Cruise Line Offer for Disney+ Subscribers – 3rd and 4th Guests Sail FREE

The onboard credit is a bonus you won’t get booking with Disney. When booking a Disney cruise, your best move is to book the cruise as soon as it becomes available. You'll have the best selection of cabins and generally the best prices. Sometimes, you can find discounts closer to the sailing if certain room types aren't selling as hoped. Disney Cruise Line offers a magical vacation experience for families, but it’s no secret that a Disney cruise can come with a hefty price tag.

If you enjoy wine or beer out on your veranda, you can save a little cash by bringing your own alcohol onboard, with limits. Again, these beverages need to be carried on and not stashed in checked bags. Remy and Enchante are super-fancy and pricy, but Palo is approachable-fancy and costs an additional $45 per person for the set menu. It can be disorienting at first to find your way around a cruise ship, but Disney makes it easy to know if you are heading forward or aft when you're in the long cabin hallways. If the carpet design is upside down, you're heading toward the back of the ship, but if it is right side up, you're heading to the front of the ship.

For oceanview staterooms, fares close to $225 per person per night are deals. And while the gold standard for cruise deals across the mainstream cruise lines is around $100 per person per night for balcony cabins, Disney is not a mainstream cruise line. Any balcony cabin on a Disney ship priced under $300 per night is a good deal. Disney Cruise Line's largest rooms are Concierge Class cabins, and come in a wide array of prices.

Effectively you’re just booking the cruise yourself, but through Costco instead of Disney. Southern California residents (ZIP codes to 93599) sometimes qualify for special rates on select sailings on Disney Cruise Line. Walt Disney World Annual Passholders sometimes qualify for special rates on select sailings on Disney Cruise Line. European (EEA) residents sometimes qualify for special rates on select sailings on Disney Cruise Line. Canadian residents sometimes qualify for special rates on select sailings on Disney Cruise Line.

It will need to be sealed in its original packaging and you have to carry it on (instead of having it in checked luggage), but it can be worth it if you want to save money for the truly yummy drinks. Getting off the ship at the same time as thousands of other guests can be a buzzkill, so don't do that. If you can manage your own bags, don't put them out the night before and take them off the ship yourself the final morning. Disney cruise ships offer two dinner options — early or late seating. Your showtime for the evening entertainment is opposite your dinner; if you have an early dinner, you have the late show and vice versa.

Proof of Canadian residency will be required at time of check-in (your passport is fine). Members of the US military and their families qualify for special cruise rates. For more Universal Studios news from around the world, follow Universal Parks News Today on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. Residents of Florida who buy a 2-Park 2-Day ticket will get two extra days for free, giving them four days of access to Universal Studios Florida and Universal Islands of Adventure. Top Sights & Attractions on Cruises to New Orleans

Shaped by cultures from Europe, West Africa, and the Caribbean, New Orleans exudes a sense of celebration, from the live music on every corner to the delicious street food in the French Market. There’s always something new to discover, taste, listen to, and learn about in this exciting, high-spirited city where the good times roll. Here you'll dock in George Town, near the island's famed Seven Mile Beach.

Riding the old-fashioned streetcars is fun, and the four main lines take in all the major sights. You can also rent a bicycle and explore 100 miles of cycle lanes, zip around by ferry, or summon a pedicab and take in the sights while chatting to your “driver”. Cruises to New Orleans bring you to the heart of the city, where you’ll find a pulsating world of jazz, Mardi Gras, vibrant cuisine, glorious architecture, and joyous multiculturalism. The New Orleans cruise port offers cruise itineraries from top cruise lines such as Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean, Princess Cruises, Norwegian Cruise line, and Viking River Cruises.

Its white sand beaches are legendary, and its extensive network of coral reefs draws visitors from around the world. The ancient Maya ruins of Tulum are just about a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Cozumel, nestled atop a rugged cliff that offers incredible views of the Caribbean Sea. And if you’re craving a beach break, just hit San Miguel, home to a colorful town square that bustles with tiny souvenir shops, street vendors and plenty of spots serving delicious bites and ice cold micheladas.

Mardi Gras continues to draw massive crowds of revelers, the city remains a favorite for meetings and conventions, and it seems like there's a festival just about every weekend, regardless of the season. Shopping in New Orleans is spectacular, ranging from quirky local specialty stores to high-end designer labels. Within a short walk of the cruise terminal, you’ll come to the Outlet Collection at Riverwalk, where you’ll find discounts on numerous popular brands. For the most upscale shopping, head to Canal Place on Canal Street, where you’ll find luxury retailers. Many visitors enjoy walking, as there’s so much to see and the center is relatively compact, but taxis and rideshares are widely available.

To help get your cruise vacation wanderlust fueled, learn what to do while you're in New Orleans and get more information about the ports you can visit with a 2022 cruise from New Orleans. If you're looking for an alternative port of departure for a 2022 Caribbean cruise, consider New Orleans, Louisiana. Norwegian Cruise Line offers several different Caribbean itineraries departing from The Big Easy. These 2022 cruises from New Orleans visit ports in Mexico, Belize, Honduras, Jamaica, and the Cayman Islands. Located just behind the New Orleans Convention Center on the Mississippi, the Erato Street and Julia Street cruise terminals are in the heart of downtown with easy access to hotels and attractions.

Both destinations offer many eco-tourism activities, time at the beach, or adrenaline-pumping adventure. When you explore this cruise ship port, you'll witness pristine beaches and plenty of water-related fun. Costa Maya is near the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, home to hundreds of bird species, monkeys, and jaguars. You'll also be near Banco Chinchorro Biosphere Reserve with its turtles, sharks, and dolphins.

The National WWII Museum vividly tells the story of war, while the Contemporary Arts Center offers rotating exhibits of painting, sculpture, film, and photography. Mardi Gras World isn’t a museum, as such, but provides a fascinating insight into the work behind those dazzling Mardi Gras floats. Sazerac House, with its own distillery, takes you through the history of the city’s cocktail culture. Venture 20 minutes outside the city to Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve to explore southern Louisiana swamplands during your New Orleans cruise. Airboat and sightseeing boat tours offer an up-close look at vast wetlands, plus its local residents— alligators, turtles and snakes included. It seems nothing can dampen the spirits where the good times roll, the jazz is cool and the food is hot.

Most include either a stop at fun-loving Nassau, or its more laid-back sister port, Grand Bahama Island. Both are home to stunning beaches, an abundance of family-friendly activities, great food, and incredible snorkeling. Honeymooners usually opt for Grand Bahama’s more secluded shores, while those in search of lively beach bars head straight for Nassau’s much-loved Junkanoo Beach and Cable Beach.

The Ultimate Menu Guide to Carnival's Main Dining Room

carnival cruise dining

The ship’s Indulge Food Hall will feature a new station called Planterie, offering plant-based food bowls with healthy options such as spiced vegetables, tabbouleh, and honey-roasted carrots. Sun Princess launched in February 2024 with the three-choice dining plan in place. The 4,300-guest ship features a three-story dining room, and one level is designated for traditional, one for reservable, and one for dine-anytime service. The cruise line will automatically cancel existing main dining room reservations already booked for cruises departing after September 14, 2024, except for those on Sun Princess, the line’s newest ship. Attached to the salad bar, the chef at the deli prepares Reubens, corned beef, turkey sandwiches and other favorites that can be pressed on the grill. If you’re thinking that’s all nice, but who has time for all this… you do!

Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse (Deck

This pizzeria features a walk-up counter where guests can order fresh out of the oven pizza slices or personal-sized pies. You can then enjoy your pizza in the nearby seating area or take it to-go to enjoy anywhere around the ship. Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, Carnival Celebration, has just set sail from Miami, and we sailed on this ship’s first cruise from the United States. Now, we are back and have put together this Carnival Celebrations Restaurants Guide with menus so you can see what is available at the different restaurants onboard this latest Excel Class ship. Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Aqua, the line’s third Prima-class ship that is scheduled to launch in April 2025, will sport several new dining options for her guests along with some reimagined spaces.

Pasta Bella / The Captain’s Pasta Bar

Some of the options include the salad bar, the Carnival Deli, the Mongolian Wok and the Chef's Choice. Plus you can get fresh pizza and soft-serve frozen yogurt which are both available 24/7. If sandwiches are your go-to lunch favorites, you’ll want to go straight to the Carnival Deli. Open for lunch and dinner, the deli offers a variety of hot and cold sandwich and wrap options with different meats, breads and spreads. You can even customize each one to your liking, as all sandwiches are made-to-order. By following these tips, you can ensure that your dining reservations on a Carnival Cruise are hassle-free and tailored to your preferences.

These are served in addition to whatever sides you have with your meal. If none of the regularly listed entrees appeal to you on any given night, give this section a look. It offers some great selections and a bit of variety with the two main items — the beef and fish selections — usually changing daily. If you’re the type of person who loves kicking things off with an appetizer (or three), Carnival’s menus have you covered. Generally speaking, you’ll find about 10 different options in Carnival, with the always-popular shrimp cocktail available every night. Carnival’s dining rooms consist of varied menus and experienced and attentive staff.

SeaDogs

The portion sizes are generous, but don’t be shy if you want to order two entrees. Premium cuts and seafood are the centerpiece to this evening dining experience. Carnival chefs are also addressing larger portion offerings for certain entrees, along with additional vegetarian options and entrée salads. Enjoy fragrant and flavorful dishes from the various regions of China. Savor starters such as slow-braised pork belly, pot stickers and spring rolls.

Guy’s Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse (Deck

Though, this new ship also offers a few specialty restaurants that come with an up-charge. This private oasis offers plenty of space with comfy lounge furniture, a pool, whirlpools, a bar, and even some healthy lunch options at the Fresh Creations salad bar. You’ll find a salad station, dessert station, hot entrees section, cold cuts selection, and more. In comparison to other cruise lines, the offerings are more limited in the buffet; this is likely because there is so much else to eat around the ship. The Lido Marketplace is your typical cruise ship buffet, featuring a variety of selections for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Room Service

By considering factors such as your schedule, dining habits, and the needs of your travel companions, you can select the best dining time that enhances your overall cruise experience. As for the main dining choices, cruisers can choose from either the Carnival Paradise dining rooms or the buffet. We preferred the dining room to the buffet but found Carnival Paradise food to be heavy at the included main venues. Although the quality of dining could be improved, the desserts were some of the best we've had on mainstream cruise ships -- not dried out, but moist and flavorful. Big Chicken and on sea days, Street Eats, were my favorites for quick and delicious casual lunch bites. Chibang and Cucina Del Capitano were wonderful evening options, especially if you're there on your complimentary visit.

Lunch and Brunch Remains Unchanged

Each dining option has its own unique charm and style, allowing you to tailor your cruise dining experience to your preferences. Whether you prefer an elegant evening in the main dining room or a casual meal at the buffet, Carnival Cruise has you covered with an array of dining choices. If looking forward to the whole day of fun that’s ahead isn’t enough to make an early riser out of you, we have something else that’s sure to do the trick. Join us for breakfast in the main dining room and sit down to the kind of menu that might make you want to start things off a little slow. Order up some eggs any way you like them… even benedict- or omelet-style with your choice of filling. Get pancakes, waffles or french toast hot off the griddle — each comes with a surprising and delicious flavor twist like vanilla, pecan or salted caramel.

Found just beneath the appetizers, you never know precisely what you’ll discover. But for folks who are open to trying something new, this is a tasty option. According to Carnival’s brand ambassador John Heald, the Flat Iron Steak will be returning soon as an everyday option. Most recently, it had been replaced by the broiled striploin steak. The Carnival Pride and the Carnival Venezia are also scheduled to get the new menus.

For a romantic dinner, the elegant setting and doting service of Fahrenheit 555 were unbeatable but this is an extremely popular venue, so make those reservations early. Beverage stations provide coffee, hot tea and hot chocolate along with iced tea and lemonade (lunch and dinner). At breakfast, instead of iced tea and lemonade, passengers can choose from apple juice, orange cocktail, orange-passion fruit-guava cocktail and iced tea.

The minestrone soup and the salads are delicious and you can never go wrong with the Chicken Parmesan. I love both Asian and Mexican food, so for me, Chibang, which was introduced on the Mardi Gras in 2022 and will probably go fleet wide, was a no brainer. For room service, breakfast basics like fruit, coffee, yogurt and cereal are complimentary but charges apply for sandwiches and other items.

It's a great alternative to the crowded buffet, especially if you enjoy a sit-down breakfast with waiter service. Below are the new dinner menus that are now being rolled out across the Carnival Cruise Line fleet. It is important to note that the order of these menus may change based on your specific itinerary and length of your cruise. For example, the elegant nights tend to occur on your ship’s sea days. Additionally, if your sailing is less than 8 days, some of the below menus will be eliminated from your rotation.

Located in the 820 Biscayne Zone on Deck 8 aft, Miami Slice is the Carnival Celebration’s dedicated pizza venue. Especially on embarkation day when the crowds on Deck 16 were in full force, this was a quick, convenient and less crowded pit stop for a tasty slice or even a whole pie. On the down side, there are five types of pizza here and that’s it, so if you want some salad to go with it, then you may have to head up to Deck 16, after all. Located on Deck 6, it is directly aft of the Golden Jubilee, which features the doors, an etched glass panel and a brass telegraph from its namesake, the Carnivale, Carnival’s second ship.

St Thomas Cruise Port Guide: 55+ Unforgettable Experiences

st thomas virgin islands cruise port

The variety of activities and attractions available ensure that every visitor can find something to suit their interests. These recommendations provide just a glimpse of the many wonderful attractions and activities available in and around St. Thomas Cruise Port. Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or cultural immersion, St. Thomas has something to offer every traveler. So, don’t miss the opportunity to explore the surrounding area and create unforgettable memories on your cruise vacation. Beyond the historic landmarks, St. Thomas is also home to a vibrant arts scene.

Current Time

This is especially important if you travel during peak cruise season or the winter holidays. The main docking piers for St. Thomas are on the south side of the island;  Havensight Cruise Pier and the adjacent shopping mecca, Havensight Mall or Crown Bay, located just west of Charlotte Amalie. St. Thomas hosts the second-largest Carnival cultural celebration in the Caribbean. And, it’s an opportunity to share in the cultural heritage of the Virgin Islands. Plenty of Caribbean delicacies and other food at food fairs and food & drink booths. Enjoy music, revel in the steel drums, street dancing, parades, fireworks, and lots of costumes.

You’ll drive to Mountain Top, where you’ll have amazing views of the island and a chance to take some photos. Some sightseeing tours will include a stop at Magens Bay or one of the other St. Thomas beaches. While you can head into Charlotte Amalie and shop on Main Street, if you’re doing an excursion and time is limited, consider doing your duty free shopping close to the cruise port. Considered the duty-free capital of the Caribbean, St Thomas port offers a wide variety of luxury items, diamonds, liquors, perfumes, watches, cameras, and leather goods. Nearly all shopping areas are located in Charlotte Amalie downtown and Havensight mall, but at some places of interest and tourist attractions, you will also be able to shop. Havensight cruise terminal is the primary port and it is the closest to the city center, approximately 2 km/1.2 miles, or a minute walking distance.

Schedules & Times

You may aslo want to check out the Sea Trek Helmet Dive for a fun and different experience. If you’re in St. Thomas on a cruise, you may want to do an excursion either with your cruise line or with a local tour operator. To get to Honeymoon Beach, you can either take a ferry to Water Island, or you can go with a cruise line excursion. During a past cruise we did a snorkeling excursion which included a stop at this beach, and we enjoyed it. The most popular beach for cruisers and those who want to snorkel, is Trunk Bay.

Thanks to the surrounding timeshares and hotels, there are also plenty of restaurants, bars, cafés, and ice cream shops, so there’s plenty to do when you’ve had enough beach fun. It’s about 10 miles from Havensight and roughly 8 miles from Crown Bay, so you’ll need to take a taxi. At seven miles from Havensight Pier, it is a bit of a drive, but it has some of the best snorkeling you’ll find anywhere in the Caribbean.

For many cruisers, St Thomas cruise port is a dream destination filled with excitement and wonder. This comprehensive FAQ aims to address common queries and ensure visitors have a seamless experience at the St Thomas cruise port. B. Discuss the size and capacity of the port to accommodate multiple cruise ships

And, in addition to the beaches, it’s a great location for hiking and biking. For those looking for more quiet things to do in a St. Thomas cruise stop, a trip to Water Island could be a great option for a peaceful day focused on sun and relaxation. Moreover, St. Thomas Cruise Port understands the importance of sustainability and preserving the environment.

Best Things to Do in St Thomas Cruise Port

There are always plenty of cabs at Red Hook waiting to take passengers back to ships, too. The umbrellas and chairs are available for rental, as well as food and drinks that you can purchase on the beach. The prices are not the cheapest ones, but the place itself is beautiful and well worth the trip. Beach chairs, umbrellas, and snorkeling gear are available for rental, and other amenities include showers, restrooms, and places to buy food and drinks. When the mainland United States is on daylight saving time, Eastern Daylight Time is the same as AST (Atlantic Standard Time). Virgin Islands are on AST (Atlantic Standard Time) and do not participate in daylight saving time.

St. Thomas’s central mountain range offers endless opportunities to snag the ultimate panoramic selfie. Head to Government Hill, Drake’s Seat on Skyline Drive, and Mountain Top, which rises over 1,500 feet above sea level for the most bragworthy views. Just make sure you book your excursions through your cruise line, as these excursion providers have been vetted and will be aware of arrival and departure times for your ship. While the Havensight Mall is great for those not looking to go out of their way, you’ll want to head into Charlotte Amalie for the best shopping experience. You’ll find plenty of stores and boutiques on Main Street in downtown Charlotte Amalie.

This sprawling complex features a wide range of shops, including high-end jewelry stores, fashion boutiques, souvenir shops, and duty-free outlets. Here, you can find everything from designer clothes and accessories to local crafts and artwork. Whether you’re looking for the latest fashion trends or unique treasures to take home, you’ll find it all at the Havensight Mall. Today, St. Thomas remains an important Caribbean destination for travelers seeking unforgettable experiences.

The legacy of the transatlantic slave trade, emancipation, and the island’s eventual sale to the United States in 1917, have all left indelible imprints on its identity. African, European, and indigenous influences melded over centuries, giving rise to a vibrant cultural tapestry. Blackbeard and Bluebeard, two of the most infamous pirates of their time, are said to have used the island as their base. Legends of their escapades still echo in the winding alleys and historic forts. The indigenous Arawak and Carib tribes were the original settlers, cherishing the island’s bounty long before the European sails dotted the horizon.

Joining in the festivities not only allows you to experience the local culture firsthand but also offers an opportunity to connect with the warm-hearted people of St. Thomas. As you explore the St. Thomas Cruise Port, take the time to appreciate the island’s rich local culture and heritage. From its diverse history and fascinating landmarks to its vibrant arts scene and mouth-watering cuisine, St. Thomas offers a unique and immersive experience that will leave you with lasting memories.

Our blog post also shed light on the rich history and culture of St. Thomas. With landmarks like Blackbeard’s Castle and Fort Christian, visitors can immerse themselves in the island’s fascinating past and learn about its significance in American history. In this blog post, we have discussed the St. Thomas Cruise Port and all it has to offer for cruise ship passengers. Not only does St. Thomas Cruise Port offer an incredible range of activities, but it also excels in providing top-notch facilities and services.

On the island of St. Thomas, one of the more popular and family-friendly beaches you will find is Magens Bay. Charlotte Amalie is not particularly large, and for those so inclined, very much of the town is quite walkable. There are several fun things to do in St. Thomas that are right near the dock. For instance, the Pirate Treasure Museum, the Skyride, and the Havensight Mall, (all discussed below), are a few easy steps from Havensight dock.

Sapphire beach is also the best spot on the island to do a parasailing experience. Check with your cruise line about their shore excursions to Magens Bay, too. On busy port days, some cruise ship will have to drop anchor just offshore and guests will ride a tender (lifeboat) into port. Its easy access, use of American currency and cultural cues, as well as its reputation for safety, make St. Thomas the easy first choice.

We are going to take an in-depth look at the two main cruise ports in St. Thomas so you can enjoy a stress-free experience when you visit. After we have discussed the ports and their facilities, we’ll also explore some of the nearby attractions and various excursion opportunities St. Thomas offers visitors. The crown bay cruise dock is located near a lovely yacht area full of restaurants and shops. From here it is about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the city center of Charlotte Amalie. Cruise ships offer excellent tours to most of St. Thomas attractions and highlights but if you wish to explore the island on your own the taxi services are very good alternatives. Taxis are fairly priced and can literally take the cruise ship traveler to all highlights, beaches, main sites and attractions of St Thomas.

While onboard, you’ll be spending a lot of your time in the pool or lounging nearby on the sun deck. You’ll also be sporting swimwear at many of the ports you visit  during your trip. Therefore, it’s a good idea to pack a handful of swimsuits in your bag. Aim to bring at least three if you’re going on a seven-day cruise.

Swimsuits are an obvious must-have, but if you’re looking to try the FlowRider surf simulator, you’ll want one that stays snug when you hang ten or wipe out. But you’ll need your gear outside the gym as well for activities like rock-climbing, track, basketball tournaments, and even a sky-diving simulator. If you plan to visit the ice-skating rink on one of our Voyager, Freedom or Oasis Class ships, then bring high, thick socks and long pants.

And for travel tips, check out Lonely Planet for the ultimate guide to tropical vacations. Found something you love but want to make it even more uniquely you? If you’re planning on doing a lot of walking around the ship during days at sea, it’s a good idea to pack a pair of sneakers or other comfortable walking shoes.

Just remember that while walking from your stateroom to the pool and vice versa, you’ll need to wear a swim cover up. If you were looking forward to wearing a tuxedo or formal gown on Evening Chic nights, you can absolutely do that as well. There is no such thing as being overdressed on Evening Chic nights. Our more formal nights are called “Evening Chic” nights because they’re all about guests looking their absolute best—and loving it. These are the nights when you want to dress up in your most fashion-forward and stylish clothes, while also being elegant and sophisticated. Even if you typically use your phone as a clock, bringing a watch on board will help you keep a more accurate eye on the time throughout the day.

Sneakers will also be useful if you try out a fitness class or use the gym equipment in the ship’s state-of-the-art fitness center. Since irons and steamers aren’t allowed on ships (safety first!), toss some anti-wrinkle spray into your bags, too. Hanging your wrinkled clothes in the bathroom during a hot shower is another trick to make them look pressed. Self-service laundry isn’t available on board, but dry cleaning and laundry services are offered at an additional fee, if you want to go that route. Also, bringing an empty bag may seem counterintuitive, but you’ll likely need one to pack souvenirs you pick up along the way.

Typically, orders of $35 USD or more (within the same shop) qualify for free standard shipping from participating Etsy sellers. If you plan to use the spa, which we would encourage, don’t worry about bringing a robe; these are provided for you. Wicking tops, lightweight fleeces, and even pants that zip off into shorts are all a good idea for Alaska, especially if you’re out hiking. You may also want to buy some new items while shopping in the ship’s boutiques, so remember to leave a little extra room in your suitcase just in case.

While of course you’re welcome to stay in your swimsuit almost all day long on a cruise, there are certain occasions when Celebrity Cruises dress code requests otherwise. The smart casual dress code works for all areas of the ship in the evening, including in bars and lounges and during shows and events at the ship’s theater. For first-time cruisers looking to stay active while sailing, our ships offer plenty, so be sure to pack athletic wear. Click here to see more matching cruise with free shipping included. For more inspiration and tips on selecting the perfect cruise wear, visit our Vacation Shirt Blog.

Here is a selection of four-star and five-star reviews from customers who were delighted with the products they found in this category. Since flip flops are not allowed in the evening, make sure to bring comfortable shoes or sandals to wear during dinner in the main room. If you’re headed somewhere like Norway or Alaska where hiking is one of the most popular activities, it’s worth packing a good pair of walking boots. This is an easy clothing item you can drape over your shoulders to dress up an outfit, or to warm you up if you’re outside and there is a chill in the air.

You may also be required to cover your head and shoulders if entering a mosque, or bare arms if visiting a church, so pack something that enables you to respect the local culture. While it’s perfectly acceptable to stay in your swimsuit while lounging beside the pool, you’ll need a cover-up to walk from your stateroom to the pool, and vice-versa. Keep in mind, depending on where your stateroom or suite is located, you may go through other common areas of the ship (in addition to the elevators) on your way to the pool. Make sure your swim cover-up is something you will feel comfortable in while walking around others.

Footwear should not be an afterthought when packing your suitcase for a cruise. While you might have the urge to throw in a pair of flip flops and call it a day, there are a few other essential shoes you’ll need to bring along on your trip. Welcome to our "Couples Shirts" category, where love meets fun!

Is it better to book a cruise through a travel agent? We say yes

cruise travel agents near me

But the next time you’re booking a cruise, it’ll be worthwhile to pull up Costco Travel, which is, unexpectedly, one of the best cruise websites. Using the seven-night Alaska example, Priceline brought up an itinerary aboard Royal Caribbean International’s Radiance of the Seas that starts at just $374 for the full week—roughly $53 per night. Hard-to-believe cruise deals like this show up on Priceline with regularity, which is part of what solidifies it as one of the best cruise websites. A good cruise travel agent will not only help you navigate these tricky questions they will hopefully provide you with some reassurance. Booking with a travel agent gives your transaction a personal touch -- you have a resource for asking questions and someone to contact if something goes wrong during your travels.

Having hosted pirates and explorers before the island was officially settled in the 1830s, the region has a storied past you can revisit while touring local museums and historic districts. Then soak up some relaxation, sunshine and warm sands during a well-deserved beach day or splash the afternoon away on a paddle boarding or kayaking tour. Search SmarterTravel Hotels for great accommodations in your port of call. You can sign up for price alerts, which will notify you by email when the fare on your selected itinerary drops. It can be a complicated, time-consuming process that involves dozens of open tabs and maybe a spreadsheet or two. Travel professionals are there to help you plan your next vacation aboard a Carnival fun ship.

But Tripadvisor is also an excellent site for travel deals, including on cruises. To save you the hassle, SmarterTravel investigated the glutted space of cheap cruise sites to determine which are worthy of listing as the best cruise websites; below are a few that come highly recommended. All prices are per person, in US Dollars, based on double occupancy.

Cruise Line Websites

You aren't just booking general passage on a ship, either, as you will be asked to pick a specific cabin and when you prefer to dine. Making a mistake in these categories can ruin your cruise experience, as there are such thing as "bad" cabins and dining times (think noisy or claustrophobic cabins, dinner at 8 p.m. with cranky children, etc.). If you'd like to book a cruise through a travel agent, you can pop into a downtown storefront or search for cruise sellers online. If you want to look for agents registered with travel organizations, here are some resources for finding agencies near you. Look for agents offering discounts, free perks and other incentives.

Welcome to CLIA’s Travel Agent Finder

Remember, you might be a DIY type when booking airlines and hotels, but booking a cruise is more complex. If you enjoy doing your own research, focus on what to do and see in the ports of call. However, when it comes to booking the cruise, we recommend you still contact a travel agent who specializes in cruises to help you learn a few tips and avoid any rookie mistakes. If you like saving time and money before, during, and after your vacation cruise, contact us today.

Many agents become accredited cruise counselors through CLIA's Cruise Academy or take courses through the different cruise lines to become more expert at selling their products. Inquire whether the agent has attended any of these training programs. In addition, you can look for affiliations with the National Association of Cruise Oriented Agencies (NACOA), Better Business Bureau (BBB), American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) or even AAA. Keep Cruisewatch in strong consideration—more than a typical cruise booking website, Cruisewatch bills itself as a “digital cruise advisor” that couples data power with personalization. CruiseDirect and One Tree Planted have partnered to plant a tree for every cruise booking that sails with us.

Their service to you is usually free, though some might charge first-time clients a minimal fee. Once you've chosen your cruise and, with the agent's help, matched your style with your vacation goals, you've got to book the trip. Again, it's a bit more complex than you might think, but a good agent will make the process go smoothly -- from securing the right cabin type and location to booking the dinner seating that will suit you and your party. Your agent will also be able to sort out travel insurance, if required, and will collect payment for the cruise (usually a deposit at the time of booking and the full amount 60 to 90 days before departure).

Companies such as Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Line provide online directories to help you find an experienced cruise travel agent near you. Plus, the price of your cruise includes accommodations, meals, entertainment and activities — and in some cases drinks, tips, shore excursions, Wi-Fi and other extras. A travel agent can help you determine what your cruise fare gets you. The cheapest base cruise fare does not always provide the best value or best overall vacation deal. Cruise lines prefer that you use a travel agent rather than going online and booking directly. They have small in-house reservation teams, and when you have a question while making a booking, good luck in getting an expert on the phone in a timely manner.

Recommended Reviews

The agent might also have first access to sale prices because the cruise lines notify their agent partners and loyalty club members first before they announce a sale to the public. If you're concerned that working with an agent will make your cruise more expensive, don't be. Cruise travel agents receive the bulk of their income via commission from the cruise lines.

In addition, you might want to look for an agent who is a cruise specialist -- either at a cruise-dedicated agency or within a larger general agency -- to get the best service. One of the most important things to know is that agents -- in particular, cruise specialists -- have been onboard the ships and can really give you firsthand advice about different cruise options. They have done a great deal of research through familiarization trips and cruise line seminars, so you don't have to do the work yourself. Even better, agents often have access to special discounts or perks -- or know best where to find them -- and as the cruise lines pay their commissions, you don't pay more for their services and expertise.

When you book a cruise, you are making a vacation decision that goes way beyond a flight or hotel nights. Which ship you choose determines your dining and evening entertainment choices for the duration of your vacation. Which itinerary you choose impacts which destinations you'll visit and which shoreside activities will be available to you.

You should consider booking a cruise through a travel agent because a knowledgeable agent can help you understand the nuances of a cruise purchase and help you make the best decisions for your vacation preferences. Going online to book an airline ticket or hotel stay is a familiar and fairly easy transaction. When you book a cruise, however — particularly your first cruise — you might want to reconsider the impulse to handle the transaction yourself through a cruise line website or an online advertiser with cheap prices. This DIY approach might not be the best way to find your dream vacation at sea. The best cruise agents will do a thorough job of interviewing potential clients to find out which ship, line and itinerary would be the best fit.
